This early church was organized under The Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene.
This first church building was lost because the mortgage could not be met.
On the Tuesday of September 16, 1919 at the home if Brother and Sister Allen on Hall St. the Owensboro Holiness Association was organized and Rev.J. E. Hughes and wife of Kingswood were called as pastors. The church building on 9th and Triplett was rented and services were held there. On September 18, 1921 we started a separate Mission on East 4th St. Evangelical revival services were held by Bro. Davis of Evansville and Sis Wallace of Walla Walla, Washington. At the close of this meeting the church was reorganized by Rev. C.W. Pollard on January 4, 1922. There were twelve persons who united with the church at this time. On May 9, 1924 we purchased lots on Daviess St and built the basement of the 3rd building to become a Nazarene Church Later we purchased our present church located at Second Street and Frayser. The congregation all celebrated and thanked God as we finally paid off the mortgage.

In 1969 plans were laid to relocate to the corner of Standish Place and Lewis Lane which a majority of the members did. Those that chose to remain at the older location became known as the Audubon Church of the Nazarene which is now located on Hwy 60 West.
Coolidge Grant led the relocation and was pastor at the new location until 1986, Danny K. Brummet served from 1987-1999, and then Michael Bowers from 2000-2005. Pastor Glenn Amerson came to be with us in September of 2005.
Our church buildings suffered damage in the 2000 tornado but were restored and now the current body of believers that worship at the current location have the privilege of worshipping with up to date audio and visual equipment, freshly painted walls, and current office systems.
Praise the Lord! God has blessed His people in this place!
